And now the whole world knows; Alabama is the real deal.
Alabama did two things tonight; they jumped on Georgia early, and then didn't panic when the Dawgs fought their way back into the game. In doing so, they ensured that no one will overlook them the rest of the season.
On the offensive side of the ball, John Parker Wilson was excellent. Going 13 of 16 for just over 200 yards, he played one of the most complete games of his career while climbing to the top of the Alabama yardage rankings.
Again, the Tide's running attack was unstoppable, with Andre Smith and Co. blowing open holes in the Georgia defensive line. Julio Jones finally had a breakout game with five catches for 91 yards and a touchdown. The offensive play calling was outstanding, and Georgia's defense was completely confused and unable to adjust.
Defensively, it was a tale of two halves. The incredible first half saw Alabama extend its streak to five games without being scored upon in the first quarter. In the second half, however, Alabama's continuing problems with kick coverage resurfaced, and they remained susceptible to the screen pass. Bulldog quarterback Matt Stafford was lights out in the second half, leading an amazing comeback attempt that nonetheless fell short.
Alabama has to be credited with stiffening when they needed to, stopping the Dawg comeback when they needed to. This was a well-coached, well-prepared team that dominated an opponent from bell to bell.
We'll be talking more throughout the week; now, it's time to enjoy this victory. So here's a word about preparation from a guy that puts in the extra hours...

I honestly don't know what to think. In fact, I'm still in a bittersweet saddened state of disbelief. I still haven't fully grasped the fact that WE BEAT UGA and we're now officially ranked SECOND in the nation!
I guess, somewhere deep down, the past tense Alabama fan inside of me is trying to force his way out. In another words, beating a team of UGA's caliber following that up with a number 2 ranking is something all Alabama fans should be accustomed to.
Roll Tide!
